E Portfolio
Friday, 19 June 2009Hi Gatsbians
The holiday is coming to an end soon. We have one week left.
So far, I have received the E Portfolio of Roy, Yi Ching & Shing Chun. If you have not done so, could you try to send to me before the holiday ends?
Remember to include your CIP reflection as well.
I hope you will still find time to enjoy whatever is left of the holiday.
See you soon & possibly on Monday if you are able to join us for the dinner.

Message from Mrs Tan on 18th June 09 11:38pm
Thursday, 18 June 2009Hi Gatsbians
Thank you for inviting me to join you for the dinner at Seoul Garden. I will be there if everything is fine with my family and I by Monday. You see, my son has just returned from Thailand and I have to make sure that he does not develop a fever before I come into contact with other people.
I need to let you know that the school is very concerned about the spread of H1N1 virus. In case you think that it is not so serious, I am actually preparing materials up to 6 weeks for home-based learning should the situation worsen. I have also postponed our class party at my home to minimise any unforseen problem.
If you still want to go ahead with it, please take the following measures before coming for dinner at the Seoul Garden:
-Check your temperature. Make sure it is not 37.5 degrees & above
-If you have been to a country with sustained community transmission, please stay away from school and crowded places for the next 7 days after your return. They are Thailand, Philippines, USA, Mexico, Canada, UK, Spain, Chile, Australia, Japan, Argentina, Panama and Dominican Republic

GATSBY, KEEP MOVING AHEAD!
Tuesday, 2 June 2009Hi Gatsby
MANAGE YOUR TIME CAREFULLY
I hope you are able to find time to work and play. Those who have more to catch up would probably need to put in more working hours. It might be a good idea to work out a simple time-table so that there is a structure to manage the use of time. You have a long list of holiday assignments, it is best to work hard and smart.
HISTORY HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT
By the way, for History there are 2 pieces of work. I would like to see both the SBCS answers and the Completed table on the key features of different dictators on MONDAY 29 JUNE 2009.
SERVICE LEARNING FORM & E-PORTFOLIO
Please complete the SL Form and update your portfolio. Please send everything to me from 17-19 June 2009.
GATSBY YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION on Friday 3 July 2009
Some suggestions:
-Class Bonding Activities during History lesson (might miss the 11.45 am lesson if there is celebration in the hall)
-A movie show as a class after school 3-5 pm (any other suggestions?)
-A Class Party (Dinner & Games) 6-9 pm
If you cannot find a place, Mrs Tan will open up her house for the Gatsby party.
Mrs Tan will order catered food. Some suggestions: Bee Hoon, Chicken wings, Fishballs, Siew Mai..etc. (Is this ok with you?)
Games: Class Committee
Anything else?
OTHERS
-Please let me know if you have some other suggestions to promote class bonding in Semester 2.
-Seats will be changed in Term 3 to create a more conducive environment for learning. If the class behaves well, we do not need to separate the tables into individual rows.
-I am not sure if you are interested in S Africa. If you are, I will show you pictures of my S. Africa tour when we have our class interaction from 2-3 pm on 29 June 2009.
-I hope to hear something interesting or enjoyable during this holiday from each one of you. Please come prepared to share! Slides or picture would be fine too.
Take care and have a really good holiday -meaningful and well-spent!
Cheers!
